Purpose:
This is the personal website of Sheikh "Kori" Rahman, me. This website is a place to present my professional credentials, and some of my academic work to potential employers or those interested in such things for other professional reasons; As well as to post my photos, videos, and other digital content I generate and feel a desire to publish here.
I hope that my presentation does not come off as pretentious, or overzealous in displaying my vintage. It is my wish that the content of this site provide a description of who I am and what I believe as a fellow human being on earth. But regardless of my intentions, it is a fact that this could never be achieved even with a text of many volumes. So take what I have presented here as you wish, and as long as my consciousness lives you can always inquire for further clarification.

Code:
I worked pretty hard on the code for this website, and all of the code on this website was written by me. I did not use any prepackaged codes from others. The entire website is written in a combination of CSS3, PHP, HTML, and a little MATLAB. I did not use GUI-style web page design software to edit my pages, I wrote the entire website in raw code using Notepad++. I avoided using Javascript completely (although the Google+ button uses it), I never liked Java for internet applications. I used CSS to create the menus and dynamic content, such as my CSS based photo album design, which is probably one of my greatest pieces of CSS and PHP code ever. The albums are generated using thumbnails created using a MATLAB program I wrote many years ago, along with a photo description php file, and a single album template that is called upon in every single album, so that the album code can be changed instantly across every album. Each page is generated using a single template file for style, header, and footer, so that theme changes and styles can be changed across the site instantly. I wrote the pages specifically with the Chrome, Firefox, and Safari browsers in mind. While the site is still functional in most other browsers (such as Internet Explorer), it is intended to be viewed in those mentioned. The visual elements of the site are discussed below in the Design/Theme section.

Design/Theme:
Let me start by making the point that the entire site was designed by me, I came up with all the ideas for theme, color scheme, menu design, logo, header, footer, coding scheme, albums, etc, on my own. The menu buttons, header bar, logo, filmstrips, etc, were all drawn by me. I exclusively used the free and open source GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), to perform all of the drawing and editing of the images on my site. Unless otherwise denoted (such as in title attributes), all images on the site were created or photographed by me.
I was initially unsure of the exact theme I wanted to go with, but a dark color scheme was a given. At some point during the album coding, I decided to go with a slightly photographic theme, as I hope the "Reel No.", "ISO ###", random red-green-blue menu buttons, and logo attest to. The theme is all-in-all, simply a "dark" theme, which suits me quite well. I tried to keep the page elements as visually appealing as I could, but I'm far from a professional graphic designer, so forgive me if it isn't terribly appealing to you personally.

Credits:
As noted, two pieces of software that have proven invaluable in creating this website are GIMP and Notepad++. I owe credit to the programming language reference websites I used PHP.net, W3Schools.com, Stackoverflow, and of course Google for connecting me to all these great sources.
Images used on my Influences page are linked directly from The Wikimedia Foundation .
Finally I would also like to thank Caffeine, Korean pop music, and my cat, for giving me the strength and enthusiasm to get the site designed, written, debugged, and finally implemented.
